There is a thin line between “standing your ground” and “being defensive.”
To keep it short, your intellect is in charge when you are standing your ground.
On the other hand, your ego is in charge when you are being defensive.
When you try to explain being defensive with convoluted logic, making it look like you are standing your ground, your only accomplishment is that you successfully shot at your own foot.
If you are confused about the two, get help from a mentor or someone smart and caring who wants the best for you.
The biggest danger of the “being defensive” blindspot is that you may be walking towards a cliff in your work or life. Being defensive and not realizing that will get you to the destination – albeit not a happy place to be.
