Today there is an article in Silicon India highlighting the fact that software professionals in the mid-40s are restless. Nothing could be further from truth. This is one of the key reasons for me to write “Beyond Code: Learn to distinguish yourself in 9 simple steps” (foreword by my hero Tom Peters)
Anand Deshpande, chairman and Managing Director of Persistent Systems Private Limited said “Overall, I find the ‘restlessness quotient’ for individuals in the mid 40s is at its highest..”
I have to agree with Anand. The best thing to do when you are young is to accumulate enough power to use when you are NOT SO young anymore. This means you don’t have an option but to do something beyond code. I have said this so many times, even if you win the skill set rat race, you lose in the long run.
Have a great week ahead!
